1. Does it hurt?
Bikini waxing does hurt, but how much depends on your pain tolerance. We have clients that sleep while getting waxed, and we have clients who feel more pain. One thing that will help with the pain is if you wax routinely and not shave in between sessions. When you shave, the hair grows back thicker and will in turn be more painful for you, however when you wax, the follicle thins out and is less painful upon removal. Another thing that might help is to take 2 Tylenol a half hour to an hour before your visit, but most clients don’t need to do this.
2. How long should hair be before I get waxed?
If you shave, you should wait at least 2 weeks before coming in for a wax. The longer the hair, the easier it is for the esthetician to remove all of it with little to no tweezing. If trimming is needed, the esthetician will do so at the time of the appointment.
3. What should I know before waxing for the first time
a. It might be painful at first, but it will get easier with time as your hair thins out.
b. You will be hairless for at least a week, with growth starting at about 2 weeks.
4. How often should I wax?
Due to the natural cycle of hair growth, it is recommended that you come in every three to four weeks to get waxed. Normally people go about a week with no hair, and then at the end of the second week, you start to notice hair growth. Of course, this varies in each case, but this is the average. We recommend coming every 3-4 weeks, because it is when the hair is long enough to be waxed, but not too long where it will hurt like it did the first time! This also makes it easier for the esthetician, since the hair is easier to be removed and the esthetician can work quickly and efficiently, and it's more comfortable for the client.
5. Do men get waxed too?
YES! It is very normal for guys to get waxed! Male waxing being "taboo" is a thing of the past! Guys come in all the time to get anything from their eyebrows to their legs waxed and everything in between! Manscaping is a growing trend, and guys love the feel of their own skin being smooth and hairless! Most guys come in for the first time very timid and nervous, telling us they're just curious and want to try it. Yet, after that first time, they're hooked and come in for a wax every month!
